New Solar Project Will Support The Majority Of The Park’s Power Needs
MILLVILLE, NJ: Infiniti Energy Services (IES) has begun construction on a 774.90 kW/DC solar project located at the 500-acre New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) in Millville, New Jersey. Once operational, the power generated will support the majority of the Park’s energy needs and dramatically reduce their carbon footprint.
According to Infiniti Energy officials, NJMP will be one of the nation’s first motorsports entertainment complexes to go solar. The complex includes a clubhouse with a bar, restaurant, meeting spaces, overnight accommodations, exotic car garage condominiums, two world-class road courses, a karting course, paintball fields, and more.
Through the structure of the deal, NJMP will own the completed facility. Engineers estimate the clean energy generated will prevent the emission of approximately 705 metric tons of carbon dioxide each year, which is the equivalent of planting 830 acres of forest.
“As a New Jersey-based firm, we are excited for the opportunity to develop new solar resources in our home state and to bring renewable energy to the premier motorsports entertainment complex in the northeast,” said IES President Michael Kushner. “We look forward to working with the New Jersey Motorsports Park to install a low-impact, aesthetically pleasing system design which will reduce their carbon footprint and the energy costs associated with operating the facility.”
The design features two ground-mount subarrays with a total of 2,160 panels. Construction crews will need to bore under portions of the raceway track so that electrical lines can be installed to the various buildings. In order to power the campus, IES will be tying into 5 points of service.
Additionally, the Park’s location adjacent to the Millville Municipal Airport also required the IES team to work with the FAA on the design. “The FAA requires a glint and glare analysis to ensure the project does not create a hazardous environment for landing pilots.,” Kushner said. “This is an exciting development for New Jersey Motorsports Park,” said NJMP COO Brad Scott. “It is our first step in a commitment to becoming a more environmentally friendly facility. Moving forward, we will be incorporating additional green initiatives into our daily operations.”
